Faction points can be earned by upgrading the star level of your Captains. They are required in order to increase the level of a faction. Doing so grants you bigger bonuses for your army.

Each Captain belongs to a particular faction. Depending on which faction a Captain belongs to, they grant points to that faction when their star level increases.
