Fighting monsters is the main method of leveling your hero and captains. Monsters are divided into factions:

    • Barbarians
    • Cursed
    • Undead
    • Elf
    • Inferno

Not only do monsters differ by their faction, but they also have various traits, just like your troops! Any monster in the game has at least one of the following traits:

    • Melee
    • Ranged
    • Mounted
    • Flying
    • Beast
    • Giant
    • Elemental
    • Dragon

Certain monsters might have several traits at once, like a Storm Crow, which is both flying and a beast. Though there are no monsters in the game whose traits would match both strength bonuses of a regular troop. This is one reason why you should combine various units while composing your army when attacking high-level monster squads.

All monsters are divided into tiers from I to VII, which are basically their levels. Also, each faction has its own weakest monsters that do not have a tier. These can be met in lowest-level squads. Monsters get a lot more powerful with their tiers increasing.

All monsters on the kingdom map are grouped in squads. Squads differ greatly by power and can take any level from 1 to 45. In general, there are 4 main types of monster squads:

  • Ordinary
  • Rare
  • Heroic
  • Citadels

Ordinary squads are always attacked by captains, while rare squads can only be attacked by your hero. Attacking rare monster squads is the most efficient way to level up your hero.

Heroic monster squads can be attacked with both your hero and captains. The same applies to Citadels. You can attack heroic monsters in group marches with your clan allies. This increases your chances for success a lot.

Heroic monsters squads are very strong, which means that it could be problematic to defeat them on your own. To fight such powerful enemies the game has an option of group marches.

A group march by definition means that several armies of various players participate in an attack. To create a group march it is enough to know who will head the attack and then simply send reinforcements to this player’s city. The player heading the attack will be able to control all of the troops and send them to a march. Rewards will be distributed according to each player’s contribution to killing monsters and total army strength.

Note that unlike regular marches, you cannot speed up a group march for more than four times. Special march speedups are needed to accelerate a group march. Their cost depends on the march size (how many players participate in a march) and is 5K gold for a maximum of 5 members and 20K gold for 25 members.
